A cancer patient from Indonesia, Mr Alexander Mondong, was treated in Singapore by Dr Robert Lim from Department of Haemotology-Oncology, The Cancer Institute at National University Hospital (NUH).
A second opinion brought Mr Mondong, who was diagnosed with cancer, to Singapore. “I like it here because my doctor tells me the truth,” says he. When Mr Mondong first arrived in Singapore, he was very confused about where to seek treatment. “I had no experience with the doctors here; my wife’s friend recommended one and on our first visit, Dr Robert Lim spent an hour with us!” says Mr Mondong.
He is extremely pleased with the fact that the doctors here do not hide anything from their patients and spend lots of time answering questions and clearing doubts. Mr Mondong agreed to chemotherapy here. “I am very happy with him,” he says, adding that he has been alive for the past six years because of his
doctor. He can also call from Indonesia to directly speak to his doctor here. “In 2002, when I needed surgery, he appointed two surgeons from Singapore and the doctors were good.”
About recommending Singapore: “I have recommended many of my friends to see my doctors here in Singapore,” says a happy Mr Mondong. He praises the honesty of the doctors and the safety and cleanliness of the city. “The equipment here is more modern. And if you are here for chemotherapy, you do not need to stay overnight in the hospital like you need to do in Indonesia,” he says. |
